I've been using Propecia for about 5 years now. My hair loss is thinning at 50-60 hairs a day, I started taking Propecia (a drug made to reduce the amount of testosterone) in 2012. The first two months I felt fine and had no issues. I now have two complete hair fall/loss cycles, a dry, brittle cycle and a receding hairline (for which I have severe hair loss). I have no concerns about hair loss or receding hairline or thinning at all. I am also taking finasteride, which has been used for many years and was originally supposed to be a hair loss medicine. I've noticed that I have very thinning hair at my temples, back, and head. I'm wondering if I'm doing the same thing and could be experiencing side effects of Propecia? Thanks in advance.

My hair loss is getting better and better. My first thought was that my hair is starting to fall off, but I didn't think so. My second thought was that Propecia is causing me to be very thinning hair. I'm not sure. I was on minoxidil (a drug that's used to treat hair loss) for 2-3 years and my hair is getting thinner. The first two months I had very dry, brittle, thinning hair, and I was also having very bad, brittle, dry, brittle hair at my temples. I am now 5% of my hair loss and am not sure if my hair is falling off or not.

I have been taking Propecia for about 5 years now, but it seems to be causing my hair loss. I've been on minoxidil for 2-3 years and have stopped taking Propecia. My hair is very brittle and thinning at the temples, back and head. I'm still having very bad brittle hair. I have been taking finasteride (for the treatment of hair loss) for 3 years. I have a very thinning scalp (butts) and it seems that Propecia is helping my hair loss. I'm just wondering if I'm experiencing side effects or something? I am taking Propecia and it's been working for me.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I have been on Propecia for about 5 years and my hair loss is getting worse and worse. I started taking Propecia in 2012. My hair was still falling off, but I was losing some hair and had a full head of hair. It was about 5 months after my first Propecia I started taking Propecia. The first months I started taking Propecia, I started taking finasteride. I started taking Propecia in 2013. The first two months I stopped taking Propecia. My hair started to fall off, but the results were not bad. I had to stop taking Propecia. My hair was still falling off, but the results were not great. I had my hair fall back (but not completely back) for about 3 months. I was losing my hair. I had a full head of hair (butts) in 2014 and was still experiencing thinning and baldness (not completely bald). My hair started to fall off, but I was losing a lot more hair than normal. I was able to keep going after my hair was back (but not completely bald). I had the same pattern of hair loss (but at my temples and back) for the first 6 months of the Propecia cycle. It was only after I started taking Propecia that I had the full head of hair (butts) back. I'm still losing hair. I have a lot of hair loss and thinning hair. I was losing hair on my head (but not completely bald). I have also noticed that my hair is not getting any thicker than I expected, which is a very big problem, and a major reason I stopped taking Propecia. I also started taking finasteride. I started taking finasteride in 2014. I'm still having a lot of hair loss and thinning hair. The hair is still very brittle and thinning at the temples. I am going bald in October/early November, and my hair is not thinning at the temples. I am not taking Propecia, but I am doing it because my hair is falling off. I am doing the Propecia on my own, and it's working well. I am on Propecia. I am also on finasteride (and for the treatment of hair loss).

Propecia contains a medicine called finasteride. This belongs to a group of medicinescalled Type II ‘5-alpha reductase inhibitors’.

Propecia is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (also known as androgeneticalopecia). Propecia increases hair growth on the scalp and prevents further hair loss inmen. Men with mild to moderate, but not complete hair loss, can benefit from usingPropecia.

How does the hair on your head grow?On average your hair grows about 1 centimetre (half an inch) each month. Hair growsfrom hair follicles, which are located under your skin.

A single scalp hair grows continuously for 2-4 years (growth phase) and then stopsgrowing for 2-4 months (rest phase). After this the hair falls out. In its place a newhealthy hair begins to grow, and the cycle is repeated. The hairs on your scalp arealways in different stages of this cycle so it is normal to lose scalp hair every day.

What is male pattern hair loss?

Male pattern hair loss is a common condition in which men experience thinning of thehair on the scalp, often resulting in a receding hairline and/or balding on the top of thehead. This condition is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic factors and aparticular hormone, DHT (dihydrotestosterone).

DHT causes a decrease in the growth phase and thinning of the hair (see picture). Thisleads to male pattern hair loss. These changes can start to occur in some men in their20s and become more common with age. Once hair loss has occurred over a longperiod of time, the hair may be permanently lost.

Hair grows normally but due to the nature of some treatments (finasteride/propecia), hair also grows slowly due to on himself/herb treatments (proscar/propecia/ rogaine). Hair that staysgrowing returns to its previous growth stage. It is not known exactly how this process works or if it is harmful.

There is no specific information on the long-term effects of Propecia long term (finasteride/propecia/proscar).

If you are pregnant or may be breastfeeding, then you must not take Propecia before 21 weeks of pregnancy.

How long do Propecia regrow hair?

Propecia will stop the growth of all hairs after the first 6 months of age.

If your hair loss continues beyond the age of 35 years (an average of about 2 centimetres (2.5 array elements a inch)) then you will need to stop growing hair.

Does Propecia increase the side effects of Finasteride?

There are some side effects of Propecia (see picture). See full article on page.

Is it safe to buy Finasteride online? If so, why?

Docs:

Hi User_Admin,

I was prescribed Finasteride to treat my hair loss. My doctor told me that there is a generic version available (finasteride) which is cheaper than the brand-name version (Propecia). Does anyone know if it's safe?

User_Admin:

Thanks, Docs!

Hey User_Admin,

I've read that buying generic finasteride from India (Finasteride) is not recommended. The FDA warns against buying this medication from a foreign country or source that may have a different dosage schedule. Please make sure that the pharmacy you are considering is licensed and registered with Health Canada or equivalent regulatory bodies.

Thank you both, User_Admin and Docs! This is an extremely important conversation.

Davids,

What is finasteride?

Finasteride is a prescription medication used to treat male pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia. It is available in the U. S. in a generic form called Propecia or Proscar. Finasteride works by reducing the levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that causes hair loss, by blocking the action of DHT.

Finasteride is not approved for use in women. It may be prescribed off-label into this field for other reasons, such as treating symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia or addressing urinary symptoms related to enlarged prostate.

Davids, it's important to discuss this with your doctor before taking finasteride. It may affect your vision or hearing and may lead to side effects.

The safety and effectiveness of finasteride in women has not been established, and it's not recommended for use by children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

Please make sure to answer all of your questions about finasteride. I've read this post and am very familiar with the information here. Please, do your research and make sure to answer all of your questions.

Well, that's great to hear that I'm not a doctor. I do have some concerns but it's good to know that I can actually trust what I'm hearing. I've been on finasteride for a while now, and I don't have any issues with it. It's been great for my hair, and I'm just now seeing improvements in my condition. I've noticed some improvement in my mood, and I'm not seeing anything major. I don't have any side effects from it though, but it's definitely a bit of a factor. I'm hoping that as soon as I see more information on finasteride that I'll start seeing some results and not have to worry about any adverse effects.

Can finasteride be used in women, and if so what are the potential risks?

It's possible that finasteride could affect your vision or hearing and lead to some other problems. It's also possible that it could affect the way your body uses dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is a hormone that causes hair loss.

It's important to discuss this with your doctor, as it can be a sign of a more serious health issue if you have prostate enlargement or enlarged prostate. They may be able to suggest alternative treatments, such as surgery or a different treatment approach.

Please be vigilant with any potential risks or questions. If you have any concerns or need further advice, feel free to ask.

Docs,

Thanks so much for the information User_Admin and Docs. I appreciate the detailed responses. Keep it up.
